The MG Robert M. Joyce MWR Academy is a vital force-multiplier that enables Garrisons to provide quality of life programs and services that support the readiness of Soldiers and Families!  The MWR Academy is a component of the Headquarters, Installation Management Command (HQ IMCOM) G7 Training Division located at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.  Its world-class faculty is located around the world, including at HQ IMCOM, remote locations, as well as at 15 installations.

The MWR Academy supports the MWR Master Training Plan with a competency-based, structured, progressive, and sequential approach to Family and MWR employee development and training. The MWR Academy has a catalogue of more than 60 courses designed for a range of audiences from front-door staff to senior leaders. The MWR Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS), first deployed in 2002, integrates central registration and course enrollment processes, web-based learning, a range of performance support tools and resources.

Established in 1987 as a brick-and-mortar center for classroom training, today the MWR Academy also provides web-based instruction, virtual instructor-led courses, mobile training teams, and robust performance support through its virtual campus available at https://academy.armymwr.com/.  The MWR Academy is at the forefront in sustaining the IMCOM Service Culture Program as well as an automated Professional Development Program (PDP) that enables culture change across the enterprise.

Quality standards drive excellence at the MWR Academy.  The institution has been Army Accredited by the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) since 2014.  Currently, 19 active MWR Academy courses receive college credit recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE), which graduates can use to receive college credits. The MWR Academy is also accredited as an authorized provider by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). As a result, the MWR Academy is authorized to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for all courses over 2-hours in length.
