The CYS Healthy Menu Online Training course equips Child and Youth Services (CYS) staff with the knowledge and tools to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in Army CYS facilities. Participants will learn about the overall Army CYS Healthy Menu Initiative and explore the fundamentals of age-appropriate meal planning using standardized menus.
Through 10 self-paced modules, this course covers food safety, accommodating special dietary needs, and kitchen skills such as organization, proper knife use and care, cutting techniques, and meat preparation. By the end of the training, participants will be able to create menus that align with CYS standards, support children’s overall well-being, and foster lifelong healthy eating practices.
This course contains 10 lessons followed by a post test. In order to receive a certificate of completion for this course, students must complete all 10 lessons and pass the post test with a score of 75% or higher.
