Ready to turn ideas into bold, actionable business plans? The MWR Academy’s New Business Plan Development Course is officially live — designed to help leaders, managers, and innovative thinkers develop strong, evidence‑based business proposals that drive impact.
This dynamic blended‑learning experience pairs self‑paced e‑learning with an instructor‑graded capstone project, guiding you through every stage of the business planning process.
What You’ll Learn
• Identify Business Plan Fundamentals
Begin with the essential building blocks of a great business plan. You’ll explore the purpose behind business planning, examine each section of a traditional plan, and read the influential article How to Write a Great Business Plan to learn what decision‑makers look for and how to communicate your concept clearly and effectively.
• Develop the Foundation of Your Business
Next, you’ll establish the identity and direction of your business. Through mission, vision, and purpose activities, you’ll define why your business exists, where it’s going, and how it will serve customers and stakeholders. These foundational pieces guide every decision that follows.
• Examine the Context of Your Business
In this section, you’ll analyze the environment your idea will operate in. You will investigate economic and industry trends, evaluate your competitive landscape, identify your market advantage, and explore consumer needs and target market segments. These insights help you position your business concept strategically and communicate why it stands out in the marketplace.
• Create an Opportunity
Here, you’ll transform research and context into a clearly defined opportunity. You’ll conduct a SWOT analysis to examine internal and external factors, then write business goals and objectives that are mission‑aligned, realistic, and structured for measurable success. This ensures your business idea is both strong and actionable.
• Align the People to the Opportunity
Successful plans rely on the right people. In this section, you’ll evaluate the existing team’s credentials to identify strengths and expertise already available, while also determining what staffing adjustments may be needed. This may include new roles, partnerships, or specialized skills essential to implementing the plan effectively.
• Assess the Risk and Reward
You’ll develop a full picture of your plan’s feasibility by examining capital requirements, break‑even analysis, and financial narratives. You’ll also create action plans that map out implementation steps, contingency plans to prepare for uncertainty, and an exit strategy that supports responsible closure or transition if the initiative no longer meets its intended goals.
• Write a Comprehensive Business Plan
Finally, you’ll pull together everything you’ve built into a polished, professional business plan. This capstone project is a complete, leadership‑ready document you can use to support decisions, propose initiatives, or earn academic credit.
